Rick Burnes is director of marketing at HubSpot, the world’s #1 marketing software platform.

In his current role, Rick leads the product marketing team -- the group responsible for all product launches, product training, sales support and public web properties at HubSpot. In the two full years Rick has been in this role, he and his team have scaled up HubSpot’s sales funnel, driving over 50% revenue growth, with over $77m in revenue in 2013.

Rick also has deep experience at HubSpot in product development and customer support. He started his career at HubSpot as editor of the industry-leading Inbound Marketing Blog. Rick is a frequent writer and speaker on the topics of inbound marketing, product marketing, sales enablement and data-driven marketing.

Prior to HubSpot, Rick was co-founder of Faneuil Media, a pioneering online news startup that provided marketing solutions for local businesses. From 2001-2004 Rick worked at NYTimes.com, as an editor and product manager. He started at The Times two months before 9/11 and spent his first year working on the Pulitzer-Prize-winning Nation Challenged section. He began his career in Moscow, Russia, as web editor of The Moscow Times. A Massachusetts native, he has also worked at Google and The New Bedford Standard Times. Rick received his BA from Harvard University where he was an editor of The Harvard Crimson. He received his MBA from New York University.
